My Race Bike

2021 Specialized S-Works Epic Hardtail

My current race bike is a 2021 Specialized S-Works Epic Hardtail size medium. Yes, I said hardtail. Sure, on some race courses I get beat up, but a rigid bike works well for racing in AZ most of the time - It’s light, and it’s super fast!

The Tech. Specs are:

Cockpit - The saddle is a Body Geometry S-Works with carbon rails. Handle bars are Roval Control SL. I replaced the straight seat post with a Fox Transfer SL, which I love. The response is quick and the system never sticks like other droppoers, and it’s light!

Wheels - My wheels are Roval Control SL with Roval hubs. I run Maxxis 2.3 Ikons (tubeless)on the front and rear, usually with 15psi in the front and 16psi in the rear. The Ikons are a little heavier but I never flatted in a race with them and they roll fast.

Drivetrain - The bike came with an XX1 Eagle drivetrain with 10-52 cassette. I replaced the 34t chainring with a 36t, which I like for when I train on the road.

Suspension - The bike came with a RockShox Sid fork which I replaced with a Fox 34 stepcast. I don’t think it’s lighter, but I like the Fox fork because it fully locks out as opposed to the Sid which stays open.

Pedals - I use the Garmin Rally Power Pedals so I can track my power accross different bikes.

That’s pretty much it. The bike weighs around 21lbs with tools and a tube.
